There's a parallel between Getting Over It with the movie Funny Games: you absolutely must be a specific person with specific unresolved issues. If you're not, the movie/game will seem overly-aggressive on a tedious fourth-wall-breaking message that seems insulting for no reason.
Go buy this if you feel like your life lacks enough exposure with frustration or that you love groking game mechanics. Others, stay away. Give the game respect for being so upfront about this requirement.

Such a good game. It's difficult, but never feels unfair. Is it weird I actually felt motivated by Bennett Foddy's comments? They're somehow reassuring and not, like, passive-aggressive or mocking as I've sometimes read. I couldn't really finish it, so I just watched how it ends on YouTube. But hey, that's culture too.
I feel like this is an example of a game that was severely misrepresented by its community. Its literally a game about learning to be calm and triumphant despite failure and setbacks, and people turned it into a game about raging and yelling when you fall, because that's what can get put into compilations, and thats what will get you views. Its hilarious even, that Bennet foddy explicitly calls out garbage sludge like that in the game, of how people discard art just so they can have something easy and entertaining in the moment, and then Streamers cried about him being annoying and ignored everything he said
This is a genuinely amazing game and artistic statement, warped and turned a funny cool thing to laugh at when your favorite twitch streamer plays it and breaks their keyboard
