Final Fantasy VI PS One Classic

the first half is so strong but the second half really burnt me out because its just dungeon after dungeon with unforgiving amounts of random encounters. its particularly grating when theres a puzzle in the dungeon too but the game wont let you walk 5 steps to figure it out without throwing another fight at you

and the second half of the cast like strago relm umaro gogo gau etc are also so unmemorable compared to the "main" characters. i so badly wish they just used that time to focus even more on the initial 6 or so characters

pretty much a perfect game, the only real complaint i have is that it can be too unforgiving at times, if i weren't playing on an emulator with save states i would have probably never beat it

also too many fucking random encounters i swear towards the end i was so fed up i just bought a fuckton of smoke bombs and went wild with em

With the ability to turn encounters on and off with the pixel remaster, this game became 100x better

Pixel remaster is definitive version now. Ability to turn encounters off, exp/gil multiplier, faithful to original pixel art, you can even check whole dungeon map, you can move diagonally, auto battle system, and finally THIS FUCKING SOUNDTRACK! OH MY GOD.

If this isn't a 5, nothing is.

Tried playing the pixel remaster to see if I can finally beat this game. Sadly, despite all the improvements, I hated the remastered music. Maybe I'm alone in this but orchestral doesnt mean better in my eyes, and the music is the best thing about this game.
