FIFA Street

FIFA street really did try to make soccer cooler and more approachable to those people that dont see nothing in clubs. But in the end it lacked the polish in gameplay to really make it work on a versus mode.

The campaign sees you as an upcoming footballer and must build your team and work your way up through the ranks to be the king of your street, or something like that. Its there for the sake of it, and it ends up being a tutorial to teach you the mechanics of the game. It controls very much like a soccer game, but since its 5v5 there is a much bigger importance on dribbles. When performed correctly these can effectively stun the enemy player and allow you to get pass them. Do them enough and you get access to a power shot, that when aimed at the goal its pretty much a sure net hitter. The goalies are not very good in this game though.

Its a game that works fairly well against the AI, but it fails when played in versus mode. Because this is a street game and there is no referee, this means that ankle breaking tackles are allowed. And encourage actually, since during the animation you wont get stun locked by the enemy dribbles. Besides this game breaking flaw, the small field means that games are much less tactical and the skill ceiling has been heavily reduced.

Its a different sports game for sure, and i do give praise for EA to try something new with their FIFA franchise in this one, but unfortunatly its just not as polished of an experience as it should be.
