cant quite put my finger on it but i really didn't like FC4, especially in comparison to 2 & 3 (definatley 1 as well) everything about just feels TOO streamlined and dumbed down, the setting isn't as good as FC3, the characters are forgettable and so is the story...it's all just a little twinky feeling, the combat is worse than 3, it's too easy. missions are forgettable, its just a total step down in my eyes

Title
Far Cry 4 does a few interesting things with its villain and is the closest game in a long time to do the "both sides" dichotomy correctly, effectively showcasing the darkness that drives all of us without shying away from the consequences, but otherwise still suffers from waffly progression both narratively and mechanically, with your arsenal being too broad to really be able to get creative with it. The decent world-view and diversions into the icy tundra shake things up just enough by Ubisoft standards, but not for nothing was this where people started to get sick of it.

More cries.
Far cry 4 is ultimatly a prettier reskin of Far Cry 3. Shockingly little innovation. A lot of the same ubisoft errors again, like littering the map with tons of collectibles that would make a completionist have nightmares. Its actually even more bloated with optional stuff than Far Cry 3. the fact that its open world kinda forces the player to go for a stealth approach to mission, which is really the opposite of the way i want to play it. Because of that it isnt as satisfying as it could be, even if the core gunplay is fine.

I still am not fully into their stealth fps hybrid, this is the sort of game that should be a blast to run and gun, but unfortunatly due to the enemy AI and hitscan weapons, such is not really possible. Releasing animals into enemy outposts are still the most fun thing about this game.

I also enjoy the characters and setting much more this time around, and oddly enough the funniest characters are relegated to side missions (which are really repetitive). That said, its such a small part of the game that its not justifiable to go through it just for the story.

So yea, summing it up, it has a good core gameplay and story, but unfortunatly it is filled with ubisoft open world trash that makes it half the game it should have been

    It is sorta crazy how good Farcry is at making villains that I sorta love, Pagan Min is so fun and fantastic, his introduction is probably the best scene (or collection of scenes, if you count the whole opening act) in the whole series

    While Ajay’s motives are never explained, the writing for the other characters is miles ahead Far Cry 3.
    Plus I found it a smidge less racist than 3.
    The setting is great (really not that bleak at all) and the drug/dream/shangri-la scenes look amazing and are not too tedious to play.
    I haven’t played Primal, 5, and 6 yet but so far this is probably my favorite alongside the 1st one

    Also the auto-drive is a great feature given that driving in this games sucks. Walking is kinda fun at least.
    I need an autodrive mod for Far Cry 2.

    Not even re-shade could make this one enjoyable. Played for maybe 10 minutes then deleted, downloaded Skyrim instead. Gotta love unchecking all the UI options and still having UI on the screen.
