I disagree. I could gush about this game's pacing all day (that is, the pacing of a more conventional, "intended" route through the game). One of the coolest parts of the experience for me was stopping to look at the Lucky 38 tower in each town, noticing myself getting farther from Vegas, and then finally getting closer and closer. It was a reflection of an arduous but satisfying journey.
I admit that my favorite quests were in New Vegas and onwards, but there's still so much to love about the quests beforehand too. I like that Obsidian saved their most interesting stories for the back half, as it helps the game maintain momentum. The good parts wouldn't be the good parts without the buildup and payoff imo
the shooting's like the fries at in n out. it's not really what you're there for, it's a little bland, and even if you mod it out animal style or whatever it's still only marginally better than stock
I really like how the RPG mechanics are perfectly working to enhance the combat. New Vegas' shooting and VATS system are still the best of their kind I've seen.
