Eversion has a pretty amusing gimmick that might have been spoiled by a few years of the trend of "secretly a horror game" game gimmick. It's a bit neat to see how the characters change bit by bit when you "EVERT" into different dimensions of the levels, but kind of like later Zelda titles like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the "dark world" versions of levels isn't that different from the other world. I understand it's supposed to be a gradual change but eh.
Hitboxes seem really sensitive and jumping occasionally feels not like you are in control. But this is such a short game, you can beat it, even with its secret ending (some of those last gems are not intuitive to get, and as I overworked my way to get them, I soft-locked the game). Without some mild "you are stuck and now need to restart/die and lose the progress you had set up".
Outside that it's an alright quickie game that still goes beyond just being a platformer, but in comparison to other retro-styled platformers that would come in the next 5 years from indie devs, even one-person teams, there is more out there.

I'm not crazy about this game, but this is hardly "full-on edge-lord" or thinks it's twist is the wildest most revolutionary thing in the world, it plays it far more like it's a cute joke than anything else.
the game could have been much better if the horror aspects were explored in more depth. in the end there's just not a lot going for it. the multiple endings are cool and memorable though.
