I really wanted to like this. Generally, it plays well, with a control scheme similar to what would soon be used in fellow third-person shooter Jet Force Gemini. And importantly, all of the humour and character you'd expect from a Duke Nukem game is here: the one-liners, the babes, the hilarious posters and more. Unfortunately, Zero Hour is harmed by frustratingly convoluted level design peppered with archaic key-collecting, and worse, there are no mid-level saves. Considering most levels can take around twenty minutes to complete, having to restart from the beginning makes for an often infuriating experience. It's disappointing, as the game otherwise contains all the ingredients for a solid third-person Duke Nukem adventure.

Would -certainly- get 3.5 from me if it just had some damn mid-mission checkpoints. Some very long missions with killzones right at the end that wipe 20 minutes of progress at a time.
