one of my most played games and more most played fighting game of all time. I nearly have 2000 hours played so I feel I have a decent standing on how I feel about the game.
gameplay is pretty fun except for 2 mechanics. I think superdash is one of the worst things ive ever seen in a fighting game. I get what the reason for it is but with the netcode being equal to a server constantly on fire and jank hitboxes make it so hard to properly work around and against. the other mechanic is limit break which i dont have as much of a strong opinion for. its only on a characters like broly where it can be annoying.
the netcode is TERRIBLE in this game which at this point should be a suprise to know one whose played it. the abillity to get consitent matches where it didnt feel like i was watching a slideshow is very unlikely. at this point thought i feel like complaining about it does nothing since its never gonna be changed so whatever.
This is also another arc systems game with a werid lobby system but i never had any issues with it other then people having slurs as their names.
Character roster this game is pretty good. people love to complain about the excesive amount of gokus in the game but i dont thinks its that bad since they all play differently. there are only 3 gokus that share the same animation set for their normals. I think where the game really gets the coolest charcaters are the dlc's. Like the base roster is cool but the dlc characters are almost always fire. now that i think about it though the dlc characters nearly run the seasons meta. There is an issue i have with them though buts its more a fighting problem then a Dragonball Fighterz problem. I think dlc char's should be able to be accesed in the training area but that will never change.
overall, the game changed how i think about learning different things but has so many issues that are built into the core plus burnout from playing for so much makes the score more twords average then high

Very pretty to look at, but it has little depth...unless you love Dragonball then I guess this is the perfect game.

I grew up on the Budokai games and really wanted to like this, but I can't get down with it. I don't like the visual style with the choppy animations at all and the controls don't feel good (not the button layout, but the light-mid-heavy strikes and the laughably over the top combos that come from simple button presses). Just not for me.
Easily the best dragon ball game ever lmao the sheer amount of content in bt3 is awesome but the jank in that game does not ever look as good or as satisfying as the incredible animation in this game
