    Sandy petersens level design is trash in Doom 2. The pit, barrels of fun, and tricks and traps are some of the most infamous examples of atrocious level design I can find. At least it has the double barreled shotgun and new enemies because most of the maps are terribly tedious and frustrating to play even after beating it on UV multiple times

      100% agree, brings the game down a lot unfortunately, even though the gunplay feels great the levels are mostly really tedious and underwhelming

    Going through the modern megawads for this game, and some of them are much more intuitive and fun than vanilla. 'Back to Saturn' and 'Going Down' are big standouts, so far.
