Classic Doom gameplay with uniquely excellent atmosphere thanks to a masterful soundtrack and some solid sound and lighting design. It's a shame the labyrinthine levels and excessive key-collecting and switch-flicking hamstring the action and flow so often.

Linking When you mention an album, artist, film, game, label, etc - it's recommended to link to the item the first time you mention it. Doing so will make it easier to search for your post and give it more visibility. To link an item, use the search box above, or find the shortcut that appears on the page that you want to link. You can customize the link name of shortcuts by using the format [Artist12345,Custom Name].

I recently watched a video on the youtube channel "decino" that compares enemies of Doom64 and Doom/Doom II. One of the reasons this game feels more claustrophobic is because the enemy sprites are bigger in size, while the size of the levels is identical to Doom.
Massively underrated/overlooked game. It was a blast and the whole "switch opening things in other rooms" complaint I hear often was not nearly as bad as I expected, I knew what each switch did, and if not you just need to go back a little until you see something new or listen for the sound. I also love mazes so that might be a contributing factor (just hug left until you can't anymore then go back and hug right, ez.) I agree with 1>64>2. Way exceeded expectations
