Knife of Dunwall is the first story DLC for Dishonored and was released a year after the main game. I never ended up playing this DLC when it first came out, I rented Dishonored from Gamefly through a free trial and after I beat the game the Summer between my Junior and Senior year in college, I ended up beating the core game and never going back to it. Then I ended up getting the Definitive Edition on PS4 during a sale a few weeks ago and finally had a chance to check this out after beating Dishonored a second time. Knife is actually a really solid DLC, and surprised me how solid it was. It includes 3 extra missions and new areas, and covers the back story of Daud and what he was doing during the events of Dishonored. I actually found some of the parts in this to be even better than the core game. The first mission has you going through a factory and introduces some new enemies. The second mission is a city and has you sneaking through a multi floor mansion. And the final mission has you rescuing kidnapped assassins. You get some new powers like summoning an assassin ally to help you fight and a new difficulty, which is welcome because the main game was just a bit too easy, even on hard difficulty.
I really don't have anything bad to say, they give you all the powers you had in the main game and weapons, the gameplay is similar, and they included ruin and talisman locations in the dark vision power instead of needing to equip the heart, which was one of the most annoying things about the main game.
I guess a few things I disliked were the dark vision power needs to now be upgraded to level 2 to see enemies, where in the first you could see them with just the first level, and the other is you have the ability to pay for favors before each mission that can help you unlock hidden shortcuts in the levels and give you extra runes. This just feels like a design choice to force you to waste money and this stuff should have already been implemented into the levels instead of making you pay for it. The final mission in this is also somewhat poorly designed. There are just way too many enemies grouped together and its super frustrating and difficult and almost impossible to do smoothly without the stop time ability, and the design of the map just felt a bit awkward. And overall the design could have been a little bit more original. I liked the warehouse of the first level, but the second level just feels like they reused assets from the core Dishonored game and felt pretty generic, and the last level was just weirdly put together and felt a bit rushed.
I did like Daud and found him in ways to be stronger than Corvo as a protagonist, and Madsen does a great job voicing him, and the story to this wasn't too bad, although it really felt like a prelude to the second part, and there really isn't too much that goes on between the start of the first mission and end of the final mission. I still enjoyed this as much as the main game and its definitely the stronger part of the 2 Daud DLCs. It was fun using my powers again to sneak around and find fun ways to take out targets, and the variety to go stealth or full combat. I just wish the 3rd mission of this was done a bit better and the 2nd DLC was combined with this instead of this ending with a cliffhanger because this could have been a great DLC had the 2 been combined and the weakest levels of both those DLCs been tweaked and revised. But this still isn't bad and adds an additional 5 or so hours and doesn't feel like it overstays its welcome at all.

the first two mission are excellent but i'm pretty iffy about the last one. it does help that daud is a pretty interesting character and his voice actor is excellent, its so raspy and nice
Found the levels in both DLCs to be pretty unengaging compared to the base game. So many times I tried to find creative ways around the level but reached dead ends. I do really like the story though, even though it only really comes together in the final mission of the second DLC.
