Title
I've had this game since I was a kid, to this day, I've never finished this due to how unfair the progression is as well as it being boring as hell even if you're able to get the hang of its mechanics.

The premise of the game is simple enough, it's basically a self-insert retelling of different parts of the first Digimon anime with you bonding with your Digimon to fight off the other corrupt Digimon throughout the campaign. At first, this makes the game amazing as you fight the different enemies in order to power up your companion and in some cases, convert them to your side when they realise they’ve been brainwashed by the enemy. There's even an area to train your Digimon in order for them to grow stronger without the risk of them dying in a battle, although this requires quite a bit of grinding in order to see any noticeable differences in your companion’s stat's. All this to say, the game is extremely repetitive which it tries to offset by having a brutal difficulty spike early on as our rookie companion has to fight champion label enemies which makes for several unwinnable situations. I think you're supposed to digivolve your companion to stand a chance in these fights, but to this day, I don't know how to do that as digivolving seems to happen randomly throughout your playthrough. I only know this because once your companion has lost three battles, it'll revert to a fresh Digimon and will need vigorous training before it gets to an in-training level, let alone where you originally were at rookie. There's also a pet simulator feeling to this game as you need to feed you companion as well as allowing it to rest, likely to maintain its health even though I’m confused as to what the benefits of doing so are gameplay wise. It's like the Chao section of the sonic games only mandatory and thus, more intrusive than endearing.

It's a huge letdown for me considering how I'm on team Digimon (at least I like it compared to Pokémon) the progression is aggravating, the difficulty spike unforgivable and overall, it's a chore to get through.

This is the only game that I can say I put hundreds of hours into at one point and yet don't remember a thing about it. The only thing I remember is the reason I stopped playing, Which was my Digimon turned into Etemon and I hated him in the show.
