Deus Ex was ahead of its time, it was ambitious, thought provoking, fun, innovative and unapologetic. It aged well and still holds up, it aged better than MGS (I like MGS btw)
I can't get into this game, tried like 4 times but it's just too dated gameplay-wise. The furthest I got was the 3rd level. It doesn't help that this game is really ugly, which obviously is understandable considering that it's a 20+ year old game, but somehow System Shock 2 for example looks much better so I'd blame it mostly on art direction and colour palette.
i'm only two missions deep and this is shaping up to have some of the best political worldbuilding i've seen in cyberpunk if the little books and news report things you can read are any indication. i see a lot of eden: it's an endless world parallels which is my other benchmark for peak cyberpunk worldbuilding, i wonder if the creators read it
eden: it's an endless world. late 90s/00s cyberpunk manga that also features a UN-related political entity attempting to exert its power all across the globe during a time of global pandemic. lots of terrorism and conspiracy too
This game runs like absolute dogshit. Even with mods. Thief 1 runs significantly better. Still this game has best level design of any game ive ever played so makes up for it. 4.5/5
