this is the original rather than fof the record which features frank west and a slightly altered story (both are really similar) most things i said about the second go for the first its a great co op game, its stressful and makes you really cooperate to figure out what you need to get done when it needs to get done never played it solo so icant comment on that experience overall its way less memorable or charming or as good as dead rising 1, probably because its no longer developed by the original devs and its a canadian company. the gameplay feels worse, the mall is worse, the missions are worse, characters are worse, writing is worse, plot is worse, etc etc a fun experience nontheless because it is similar to dead rising 1 gameplay (unlike 3 & especially 4)
7/10

I'm surprised this game gets a bit of hate on here, its really not a bad open World zombie killer. Yeah does it have annoyances, yeah is it repetitive, yeah does the story stink and feel like a B Rate movie, yeah the main character looks like a generic douche, but I feel this game polished a lot of the gameplay and mechanics of the first game. Yeah we still get the horrible time limits that force you to speed run and choose which you find more important, but at the same time there are tons of new weapons, you can combine weapons to create super weapons, the psychopaths in this game are crazy as ever and almost as good as the 1st games, and the Vegas setting is kind of cool, even if I don't really care for Vegas much. Yeah I do slightly prefer the 1st game in terms of characters, story, and setting, but this game has better gameplay, more to do, and more ways to kill zombies. Yeah its a bit of a trade off, but its a solid enough game, and entertaining, yeah is it flawed and full of glaring issues, but I think this deserves a little higher score.

I can't exactly put my finger on why I didn't like this as much as the first. If the main story isn't more fetch-questy, then it certainly feels like it, with so many interruptions to the core gameplay I wonder why they bothered making side missions at all. The weapon fusion mechanic is a good idea very poorly executed, with basically no benefit for discovering combos on your own and the combat still feeling too wonky for the challenge presented, especially when it comes to bosses and encounters with the military.
