Hopefully the short lifespan of DOA6 will prove a bit of a wake up call for Team Ninja. This game is a horrendous example of what could happen in gaming when it comes to companies making money with minimum effort.
What they HAVE done in this isn't too bad. The mechanics are switched up a bit to focus on critical stuns, lining up for a killing blow where the camera zooms in to the impact. It's cool in some instances but when you've got a 300 pound soldier punching an 18 year old maid in the face it feels a little off. The new character Nico is a highlight with her design being refreshingly normal compared to the archetypes the series usually goes for, her electricity based moves are fun to learn too. Diego is a generic mexican fighter with nothing unique about him. There's a decent story mode, some new stages and it's still a decent fighting game.
NOW, there are many problems that allude to my opening paragraph. There's lots of unlock but you don't get costumes by completing things like you used to, you have to gather layers of in-game currency. First you get points for fighting to unlock a costume, then you have to spend money to purchase it, it's a ludicrous scheme that's geared to make you spend real money to speed things up. The costumes in question aren't great either, most of them are recycled from previous games with different coloured variations, which are all individual purchases.
Speaking of recycled it's one of the biggest flaws in this game. There are recycled intro poses, victory poses, stages and as before costumes. This isn't an expansion on DOA5 it's a brand new entry so these shortcuts shouldn't be allowed (Tekken is the worst offender of this).
Throw in the hair dye scandal and a few more rushed DLCs and you have an ugly experience, if only they cared as much about this as they do about pleasing their horny fan-base in Venus Vacation

Linking When you mention an album, artist, film, game, label, etc - it's recommended to link to the item the first time you mention it. Doing so will make it easier to search for your post and give it more visibility. To link an item, use the search box above, or find the shortcut that appears on the page that you want to link. You can customize the link name of shortcuts by using the format [Artist12345,Custom Name].

It has pretty solid gameplay... but its hard to fight the wonky menu UI, weird narrative choices, and general incompetence of how Koei Tecmo is handling the franchise.
