Dark Souls... this game has really affected my enjoyment in playing games and opened me up to different genres that is fairly similar to the Souls series. Back in early 2020 I decided to play this for the first time. I used a YouTube guide to know where to go (credit to FightinCowboy for making the guide I watched)
This was my first souls game, and without many words to describe what I was feeling, I was impressed. I remember going through the Asylum with ease. However, I was lost after I got to Firelink. I did not know where to go or what to do. This game is probably one of the least linear, even if it is often stated as most linear. Without knowing what you are getting into, you could end up in a mid/end-game area. The experience of it all though was pretty amazing.
The boss fights really wasn't too hard at first. I feel like your first challenge is Dragonslayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough. I took over 30 tries on that boss before finally beating it. It took me a total of two days. After O&S you can branch out and do a multitude of bosses. You need to defeat a total of 12 bosses to beat the game. I do not recommend that though. I suggest going through and defeating each boss at it's recommended level in the areas it is placed.
The graphics might not be the best of the series, but it is very beautiful. The visuals in Firelink, seeing the distant city really appeals to the eyes. The dark, gloomy Depths and Blighttown. The bright and vibrant appeal to Anor Londo and The Duke's Archives. It really appeals to the eye.
The DLC is one of the best in the series. The bosses are extraordinary to fight, including Black Dragon Kalameet and Artorias the Abysswalker. The area is one of the most eye appealing and one of the most hardest in the game.
In all, this game is one of my favorites of all time. I really enjoyed it and plan to put many more hours into this absolutely brilliant game.

Imma lay out a big ol' secret for you all: the second half of the game is actually still pretty fucking good. I can still remember beating the game for the first time and being stunned to see how much people hated the last like 10-15 hours. Bed of Chaos is the only real stinker.
realistically this has too many flaws to be considered the best game ever, but so does bloodborne. honestly the one fromsoft game i'd submit to "best game ever" is elden ring no cap
The best game it isnt, but one of the best? Certainly is, but that applies most soulslike fromsoft games. It is insane how greatly fromsoft can make very high quality games. But i wouldnt object if anyone find DS the greatest, i love it.
but its still so much fun. its great. all that tedium adds a lot to the experience, and its an amazing journey
