Dark Souls has everything that I seek to enjoy in a game. The stunning visuals, exciting soundtrack, immense difficulty all make this game my favorite of all time. However, there are some downsides to the overwhelming amount of greatness in Dark Souls Remastered.
The Good: First thing that anyone will notice while playing the game is that it doesn't tell you what to do, or where to go. The only way you can understand what you are working for is talking to NPCs and reading descriptions of items. As that may just seem like a nuisance to anyone else, I personally love the sense of mystery that I get when I play the game. However the story is not what the players see this game for and remember. The aspect that every Dark Souls player or anyone that has heard of the game knows that Dark Souls is notorious for it's rage. Most likely, the rage is a result of some of the boss fights in the game. Stimming from Asylum Demon, all the way up to Gwyn, Lord of Cinder. The bosses in this game are rather difficult, or they are just complete cakewalks. The difficulty stims through the unforgiving aspect of the boss fights. Notably, the most difficult fight I encountered in the game is Ornstein and Smough. I struggled with them because of the difficult nature of trying to dodge Ornstein and his spear while having to worry about Smough smashing you flat with his giant hammer. Once one of them dies though, it becomes easier. It proves that in this game the rather unforgiving aspects is what makes the game good. It also proves that the game is trying to be difficult for the enjoyment of players who want a challenge.
The Bad: As much excellence that Dark Souls has, it had to have a few flaws somewhere. My biggest issue with the game is that the areas sometimes feel underwhelming. One of the worst areas in the game is Blighttown. The aspect that makes this area one of the worse is the poison swamp. You want to step out and scavenge a few items on the ground? You got to get poisoned to do so. You want to get to the boss of the area and live through the fight? You best have a purple moss clump because that poison will keep draining your health for a while. Blighttown suggestively the most annoying and aggravating area in the game. Followed by Lost Izalith, that is literally just an area that took the floor is lava pretty literally. What could be worse than rather bland areas you may ask? The answer to that is reskins of bosses. The Asylum Demon is the best example of reskinning a boss. You fight the demon once in the tutorial, it simple and rather easy to learn. Then mid-game when you find out you can revisit the Asylum, you find out the floor in the boss room crumbled down and now you are fighting the demon again but with a AOE attack. Then later on, you run into the demon AGAIN but this time he is on fire and still has that easy punishable AOE attacks. It makes the game feel almost repetitive and rather a boring take on a fight that very much could have been something greater.
The Excellent: The most excellent factors of the game is it's sweet official soundtrack. From the magnificent choir on Sif's OST, to the pounding and suspenseful Ornstein and Smough OST with the blaring trumpets and brass. One of the most exquisite, and definitely most popular, track in the game is Gwyn's OST. The brilliant piano makes the track one of the most recognizable and unique aspects in the game, and it really fits the final boss aspect in the game. One of the other amazing aspects of the game is the flow of the combat and the amount of customizability one can have with the game. You can mix match armors to where they can look either really cool, or very humorous. It gives anyone a way to customize the character as to how they want. The amount of weapon choices in the game also plays a huge aspect. You can be a knight wielding a straight sword, or maybe you want to go without armor and use a demon's greataxe. Dark Souls gives the player the customization that one should seek and make it feel like the player is giving life to the game however they seem fit. The last and most important aspect of the game is that this game alone has sparked the creation of many games that proceed it. It was the first take to introduce the "soulslike" genre. It is a revolutionary video game and should be well respected.

Imma lay out a big ol' secret for you all: the second half of the game is actually still pretty fucking good. I can still remember beating the game for the first time and being stunned to see how much people hated the last like 10-15 hours. Bed of Chaos is the only real stinker.
realistically this has too many flaws to be considered the best game ever, but so does bloodborne. honestly the one fromsoft game i'd submit to "best game ever" is elden ring no cap
The best game it isnt, but one of the best? Certainly is, but that applies most soulslike fromsoft games. It is insane how greatly fromsoft can make very high quality games. But i wouldnt object if anyone find DS the greatest, i love it.
but its still so much fun. its great. all that tedium adds a lot to the experience, and its an amazing journey
