seriously the only good thing about this is the graphics and the combat is just barely passable every other design decision is god awful generally.

Crysis is a sandbox FPS game, where the gameplay is only as limited as the imagination of the player. You play as a Delta Force operator equipped with a "nano suit", an advanced military weapon capable of granting the user both offensive and defensive abilities. You are so well-equipped to handle combat situations it is kind of unfair to the enemy. The game gives you a lot of freedom in how you negotiate each situation presented to you. My preferred method was stealth, despite the fact I overwhelmingly despise stealth elements in video games. Sneaking past dozens of enemies without firing a shot was a thrill few video games have ever given me.

Despite this, the game is average at best. The gunplay is bad, and a little bit too polished. The second half of the game that thrusts you into a full-on war scenario was very uninteresting.

I was fortunate enough to be able to run crysis in the year it came out, and it was really a technical marvel. Not only that, but the enemy AI combined with the powers of your suit and semi open mission structure allowed for some really enjoyable exploration of the game mechanics. You felt like a predator.

Unfortunatly, this game has a second half of the campaign, which is really poor. It has a zero gravity level that is a bore to get through, and then it proceeds to throw a new enemy type that doesnt feel fun to play against. It also becomes extremely linear and loses the stealth aspects of the game.

So yea first half is a 4, but the second half is a 2.5.

The game also has a multiplayer mode, in which everyone has access to the suit power's. It features large maps similar to Battlefield, and its usually objective based. Its a neat diversion, but nothing more.
