On October 27, 2065, the Winslow Accord black ops initiate a successful mission in Ethiopia to rescue hostages from the tyrannical Nile River Coalition. However, the Player is critically wounded by a combat robot. Rescued by Taylor, the Player undergoes cybernetic surgery to save their life, being installed with a direct neural interface (DNI) and receiving virtual training from Taylor and his team during surgery. Hendricks also undergoes surgery.

Plain Ol’ Fun
Zombies is phenomenal. Multiplayer is pretty good and slept on. Campaign is bad, but newer COD campaigns aren’t really too good (infinite warfare’s campaign was alright.) I don’t get the hate for this game though. It’s still tons of fun. Great game overall.

Cal Of Duty campaigns are usually full of gimmicks to distract from how bloated the shooting can feel, but BlOps 3's campaign is a lot more streamlined, and the pacing actually works rather well. It feels like a midtier Halo story, but there's just enough new mechanics and strategies to make the stop and pop engaging for the most part. The story, however, is a dog's breakfast. An attempt to change the narrative from your typical war hero story into a discussion of transhumanism and how that effects our perception of mortality and the afterlife means nothing if the script is still bog-standard and the dialogue is well below par. After some only slightly trippy sequences, the final walk out the door is accompanied by White Rabbit. It pales in comparison to the sun-baked paranoia trip of Spec Ops: The Line.

Still, the Nightmares side story successfully recontextualises the story mode and shuffles the levels, albeit in the laziest way possible, and there's tons of content on offer. It's certainly one of the better CODs, not that it doesn't still occasionally drag.

    words cannot describe how much i hate this campaign. multiplayer was one of the best in cod and if this was the zombies alone i'd give it a 4.5
