This game is within that little group of free to play games everyone seems to have sitting in the depths of their libraries.

The game is held back so hard by P2W features it's honestly kind of depressing. The amount of grinding you have to do just to get certain characters and actually fight given the (constantly changing, mind you) meta is just frustrating beyond the point of wanting to play. Big difference between incentivizing the player to give the devs a bit of money, and borderline forcing them to.

Despite this, as a "smash clone" it's actually somewhat passable in the core of its' gameplay. I couldn't name any of the characters off the top of my head (last time I played was less than a week ago).

I think the only time me and my friends have ever actually enjoyed this is just taking the piss in Discord calls together, not taking the game seriously or really focusing on anything at all. Even in the F2P market, I think there's way better options than this.

At first glance, Brawlhalla looks like a Smash Bros knockoff, but after getting more into the fighting style and mechanics, you realize the game has its unique take on the platformer fighting genre. With over 55 playable characters, numerous game modes, cross-play, and so much more, Brawlhalla is far from being another Smash Bros clone.

simple mechanics that are easy to learn and rewarding to fully understand. The criticism that it is a cheap SSB clone I believe is unbased, the only similarity is that it is a platform fighter. Although I agree the art is a bit kiddish.

The movement is good and you don't get stuck in endless combos unlike a lot of other fighting games. This makes the game a little less hype, but also not endlessly rage inducing. The game rewards positioning and movement above combos which is much more satisfying.

Also it's especially fun to climb the ELO ladder. The game is so well balanced and put together that you basically understand after losing a fight that it was your fault and not the game's mechanics, a problem I run into a lot with competitive online games like these.

The game is also especially fun with friends.

I highly recommend this game to both people who want a casual fighting game to spend some time in but also people interested in really grinding in a game and learning how the mechanics work on a deeper level.

smash brothers except it's not fun. there are better smash clones than this I honestly forgot this game existed until I went through my steam library. It's not terrible but also what's the point??

Its a free to play Smash clone on steam. To be honest, im not too much of a fan of smash, so i guess right from the start the chances of me liking this were slim. And i still dont like it. I dislike the visual style, the weird hitboxes, the chaos in the matches. I guess this is a fine game for those who enjoy it, but i want a bit more combos and 3d out of my fighting games. Its free though so i cant complain much.
