This could've been a good idea but the 2600 is too primitive to handle good bowling physics, so this game is dictated by an easily exploitable curve control for the bowling ball.

Given the source material, Atari 2600's attempt and recreating bowling can't be seen as too terrible, but the console is capable of doing so much better than what is on offer. Graphically it's pretty simple, and that's okay. Pins are simply blips and everything is clear and understandable, it's the animation that could use some work. Firstly, the ball has zero animation. The static blob launches from your three-animation swing to the pins with not so much as a pixel of movement. It will also launch straight ahead unless adjusted. Some game modes allow for more or less control, but all modes only move the ball once an input is given, reducing some of the tension that modern iterations have on the popular sport. The sound is decent for the system, and it's nice to see some multiplayer, but the modes are pretty unsatisfactory and the game is simply a basic game that fails to capture the key points that make bowling fun, yet captures all the boring ones.
