Borderlands

Really fun game that I could replay millions of times, but that ending was not it.

If you like World of Warcraft and you like Call of Duty then by all means you should like Borderlands. Sometimes “game x meets game y” comments overlook certain elements of a game, but Borderlands really is that simple. It’s a game that distills the most basic and enjoyable parts of shooters and RPGs and merges them together to form one of the most addictive games you’ll play. You play as one of four classes that reflect what you’d expect from any RPG (rogue, healer, etc.) and play through a long list of missions with up to 3 friends; you level up, move to new areas, and take on new missions. There really isn’t much story, but the game still manages to have a strong personality between its eye-catching comic book look and its oddball characters. It’s hard to explain the magic of the game on paper since so much of the fun is how well it controls and how crazy it can be with friends. Shooting people in the face and collecting new gear isn’t anything new, but it's not something that will get old anytime soon either.
