The evil King Drool has taken over Moonland and kidnapped its ruler, Princess Za. It's up to Bonk, a caveboy with a massive cranium and a voracious appetite for meat, to bash through Drool's army of prehistoric flunkies and save the day.
Way more charming than I expected. Still pretty rough around the edges, but it's obvious a lot of thought was put into the way Bonk controls. Just about every move he has comes with its own little nuances, and they're clearly deliberately exploitable, since each type of bonus stage highlights one special quirk of the moveset and asks you to use it effectively. Unfrotunately despite that attention to detail, Bonk still feels too stiff to make the most of a lot of the possible movement tech. It's a really solid basis for a platformer character, though. Really hope the other games capitalize on the potential this one shows.
Oh, some of the music also reminded me of Yoshi's Island, which is high praise. Only a couple of tracks are memorable, but there's definitely a vibe to be found here.
Bonk's Adventure is the best Bonk game. It's the most fun, has the best controls and the catchiest music compared to the other ones. Although this game is pretty easy, so if you want a challenge you should play Bonk's Revenge. I enjoy beating it over and over again. OOGABOOGA!
