Starts off as probably the single best-controlling game on the system, but my god does it get frustrating once you get the wall-crawling upgrades. The number of times I tried to jump a spike pit only to end up driving head first into it and dying was infuriating. Still probably one of the best games on the system, though.
thats the thing with many nes games, they all have fucked up difficulty spikes but i see it as part of the charm at this point (even if i suck ass at playing them)
Honestly, if you just changed the controls so that the wall climb would only activate if you're holding down on the d-pad the game would improve dramatically. Plus that would free up the possibility to jump directly onto walls instead of needing to find a corner to roll up.

The top-down sections are a neat idea but their implementation kind of ruined the game for me. Especially the way gun power-ups work.
