I have played the Atari Collection 1 for a short while to get a first impression of each game.
Here are my findings: - Alien Brigade 3,5/5 - Very cool side scrolling first-person shooter. - Adventure ? - Don't yet know what to make of this.. - Aquaventure 2/5 - Enjoyable, but has it's limitations - Asteroids 3/5 - The Original - Canyon Bomber 3/5 - Fun, but probably more on the original as multiplayer - Crystal Castles 3,5/5 - Sort of multi-layered semi-3D Pac-Man. - Centipede 3,5/5 - Fast-paced and challenging shooter. - Double Dunk ? - Couldn't figure out how to play. - Desert Falcon 2/5 - Controls are a bit clunky and pace is too slow. - Food Fight 4/5 - Briljant! - Gravitar 4/5 - Space flight epic avant-la-lettre. - Missile Command ? - ... - Motor Psycho 3,5/5 - Cool racer. - Night Driver 2,5/5 - Fun, but limited - Ninja Golf 3,5/5 - Very fun idea, also very fun to play. - Steeplechase 2,5/5 - Too easy, could be more enjoyed if it was multiplayer. - Swordquest ? - Didn't take enough time yet to explore this. Could be fun. - Tempest 2/5 - Just nope... - Video Pinball 2,5/5 - Probably oké for the time. - Yars Return 1/5 - Epilepsy enducing mess.
So the games range from bad (Yars Return) to highly enjoyable (Food Fight) and has some that need more exploring (Adventure and Swordquest). On average a nice collection if you are into Atari games from that era.
