Assetto Corsa

I love AC, I have tons of hours clocked in it and with no end in sight. It has some of the best driving physics in racing game history, and pretty much everyone agrees with that. The crash physics aren't great but they're hilarious. The force feedback is really good too.

However, as a game, it's awful. The menus and UI are laughably horrible, the stock "career mode" (if you want to call it that) is impressively boring, and the AI is very, very hit or miss... and that's about all there is to the base game. In fact, the game is so poorly made that you pretty much need to download the Content Manager, which replaces the stock main menu, to enjoy it. Thank god it exists.

That brings me to my next point, which is that this game's community is simply a thing of beauty. You will never run out of painstakingly highly detailed, finely crafted mods. Tracks, cars, real locations, fictional locations, traffic mods, servers, touge, sprints, drift builds, grip builds, drivable porta-potties, whatever you want, this game has. You'll need to pay for some of the really high quality stuff but they are more than worth it.

I am telling you right now, as a big time car enthusiast who has played video games religiously since 1999, the most fun I have ever had on a game has been each time I load up a freeroam map into my server with my friend.

The feeling and satisfaction of making a perfect curve in this game is second to none, but the difficulty and high threshold for beginners is brutal. You have to practice a lot to just avoid finishing last in the races, knowing all the turns and how high speed you can hold when entering a curve without going off the road. Still all in all, it's a great game!
