Iterative sequels do not have to be a bad thing. Wild World pumps the original Animal Crossing with steroids and removes archaic limitations like the square-based world, including more things to simply do and experience and providing far greater integration with the social element between different copies of the game, the DS' capabilities being a great boon in this area. It's still only for certain tastes, but Animal Crossing is still an experience worth sampling at least once.

Enjoyed this for almost three years straight. The community at gamefaqs is what kept it alive after the first year and a half for me. Probably impossible for me to rate this now as the community basically made this game have any lasting value. I really do treasure the enjoyment this game brought me in my teenage years. I think opening the world to where it's not a square-based world like Lowlander2 said was extremely beneficial.
