There was a part playing where I guessed “1984” for a code and it worked. It’s a great ass game though

^ This is definitely one of the coolest games ever made. A hardcore survival-horror game with relentless devotion to its retrofuture source material? That's just undeniably cool.

Also I disagree with the complaints about game length- I've been replaying the game for the first time in several years and I'm on track to finish with a 16-17 hour runtime. I wouldn't want it any shorter as I find that the game mechanics and level design get the perfect amount of room to breathe. I also imagine a lot of people tend to fall into the trap of hiding in lockers/sitting in one place forever, tacking on a whole ton of playtime that could be saved by progressing with a steady walk and an escape route in mind.

The last roughly quarter of this officially made this the most intense and anxiety inducing game I've ever played. My heart was fucking racing. Absolutely loved it

Definitely worth playing just for the phenomenal presentation. From the atmosphere to the visuals, the sound design and faithfulness to the source material, everything is so masterfully done and a dream if you're a fan of the franchise (especially the first film). First few hours when you don't know if the Alien is actually here or not are actually the scariest for me, after that you kinda get used to it, but the build-up in tension was still great.

Sadly wasn't nearly as impressed by the gameplay, that suffers from the usual archaic mechanics of survival horror games. The emphasis on infiltration/avoiding the Alien was cool, but most of the rest consisting of doing a shit ton of backtracking to unlock dozens of doors and terminals got tedious and repetitive. Also yeah the game feels a bit too long, mostly because it's super hard and the save system is fucking horrendous (at least on consoles), with save points so far apart from each other you sometimes have to do the same 10min long sections again if you die (including cutscenes and random huge loading screens). More of a cinematic/immersive experience than a gaming prowess in the end, but I'm fine with that.

This game has some of the most impressive and intelligent enemy AI I've ever seen. It noticed everything I did and I noticed it noticing changes in the environment, and I noticed its behavior changing over the course of the game. The gameplay was extremely slow and boring at times but I was still impressed, it conveyed the story objective pretty well even when it had me backtracking around the missions. I pretty much played it like I did Bioshock, getting a feel for the enclosed area until I find my way out each mission.
Just beat it on nightmare my first playthrough. Took many repeated saves and sneaking around. The ending was terrible I'm sorry, completely unsatisfying and it worked neither as an ambiguous ending or as sequel bait. And one or two voice acting takes were embarrassingly bad. Other than that I really enjoyed it.
