Actually went into this expecting to love it, but came out feeling like it was kind of rough around the edges. It's got charm and personality to spare obviously, but it has a real problem with readability. All the wacky flashy graphics can make the screen feel really cluttered, especially since all your own weapons look so different from each other; it can be lose track of where you are and where you're firing in all the chaos. There also isn't nearly enough indication for when you've been hit, which led to lots of points where I didn't even notice I'd lost my powerup until I tried to use the charge attack and it whiffed. They could do something really great with this formula though if they just polished it up a bit.
Oh, and while I love Zonk's design, your helpers are a serious mixed bag. The dog, giant scud missile and drill dude are great, but the little witch dragon thing and that fucking magician gachapon jellybean dude are hideous. Still, I guess I'd far rather they try some outlandish designs and strike out now and then than have them be boring.
