early on in quarantine me and a buddy of mine both sat down in a discord call and I watched him play this all the way through I will never forget how it felt when we finished this such a beautiful game and the soundtrack is a perfect match
Absolutely did not click for me. It felt like the developers were working on some sort of cool free-form underwater exploration simulator and then pivoted to...this...by applying the thinnest veneer of gameplay they could get away with. Even the visuals kind of suggest this -- a lot of people clearly love the style but to me they felt skeletal, generic, and half-done.
I really wanted to like this -- the game has a few pretty cool, cinematic moments and maybe in the right headspace it would work, but this did not immerse me like I hoped it would. Also, the asking price for this is absurd. If you're interested in this one, I recommend waiting for a deep discount.
I'm aquaphobic so like Subnotica it had a certain effect on me- solely based on the ocean setting. The music and the world are really beautiful but that's about it, the gameplay is pretty poor and uninteresting, but the shortness of it all makes it worth the try if you like the artstyle.
