This platform should be used for games which are distributed as platform-independent binaries (or source) designed to be downloaded and and played on various interpreters which may be available on many different hardware (or software) platforms. Examples of the various formats include Z-machine, Glulx, TADS and ADRIFT although other less well-known formats may also be used.
Note that web browser versions of the interpreters exist as well, so some of these games may appear as browser games although they are are also distributed as files that can be downloaded locally.
Note that some text adventures, such as the classic
Infocom titles were distributed as platform specific physical releases although the data files were technically in the Z-machine format. Those should be filed under the respective platforms and not on this platform.
