DigiPen Institute of Technology
Game company
The DigiPen Institute of Technology was founded in 1988 as DigiPen Corporation, a computer simulation and animation company in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Due to the lack of qualified personnel on the market at the time, DigiPen started offering a training program in 3D computer animation, which started the company's gradual transformation into the video game production oriented for-profit university it is today.
In 1998, DigiPen opened its primary campus in Redmond, WA, USA, and expanded to additional campuses in Singapore and Spain in 2008 and 2011, respectively.
DigiPen students routinely create PC video games as part of their courses, which are then published by the university on their website as free downloads.
