Founded in 1995 by four lead programmers from Sculptured Software, Avalanche Software was an independent company until 2005 when it was acquired by Disney Interactive Studios. In May of 2016, the company was shut down by Disney. In January of 2017, the company was revived as a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Games.
