Minecraft
2011
I've played 5,000+ hours, 100s of minigames, started 100s of new worlds, made at least 200 friends, made a couple dozen servers, worked on several mods, created at least a dozen resource packs, and I could honestly go on.
I'm not sure what else to say besides you have to play it. I'd recommend it to literally any human being.
Aaand I'll write a real review eventually :p it deserves a thorough one

Portal 2
2011
One of the OGs, and a catalyst of my personal love for puzzle games. It's an excellent sequel to Portal, and has since inspired many other popular puzzle games. It's a very fun playthrough; the puzzles increment well and build on new concepts. The story is interesting enough on a first playthrough and has tons of charm, but it doesn't take-away/distract from the puzzles. Graphics and visuals are relatively simple (it was 2011 bro), but are themed/integrated well. The physics are robust and consistent; it makes solving the puzzles a super fluid process. It really makes it into a puzzle-adventure game, the way it introduces new mechanics so intuitively.
Co-op adds SOO much playability too: more mechanics, more complexity, opportunities for teamwork and trolling required :p Plus a Level builder & catalog that are incredibly diverse. It's also a popular speed running game with lots of tricks if you're into that too.
Portal 2 is simply a well-produced and rightly loved game imho. It'd have 5 stars but I only let one game have that title :p
